Good Times Company

Producer & Founder - Bevin Linkhorn

Bevin Linkhorn is a producer, script editor and development executive who has worked across the screen and live performance sector. Starting out as an actor and writer, he forged a career in development and then as a producer at Dave Gibson’s Gibson Group across a variety of drama, factual, digital and children’s productions, including OPERATION HERO, MY STORY, THE HOTHOUSE and THE INSIDER’S GUIDE TO LOVE.

Over the last few years, under his own company banner, he’s created and produced two children’s factual entertainment series: a sports show about competitive baking (EXTREME CAKE SPORTS) and a mural-making arts show (MASTERS OF THE MURALVERSE). Both play locally on TVNZ and NZ On Air recently funded a second season of EXTREME CAKE SPORTS, due to go into production end of 2023.

At Pūkeko Pictures (part of the Wētā group of companies) Bevin was Story Producer on the 52-episode animation series KIDDETS, a pre-school series that played on TVNZ, ABC and CCTV. Bevin led the writing team and worked closely with the series producer and series director.

Bevin founded Good Times Company in 2015, to develop and produce his own slate of projects. He’s also worked with creative agencies on both branding and social change campaigns and produced the award-winning drama series BRIGHT SUMMER NIGHT, created by the filmmaking collective The Candle Wasters. He co-wrote the theatre adaption of Emily Writes’ best-selling book RANTS IN THE DARK, and produced the nationwide tour. Bevin and Emily are developing the work for the screen.

Bevin has honed his story structure and script development skills while leading creative processes for various producing teams. With an eye for recognising talent and advocating new voices, he has helped identify and guide skilled writers and performers into the creative industries. He has mentored MA students at Victoria University of Wellington’s Institute for Modern Letters scriptwriting course.

Bevin produced comedy writer Finnius Teppett’s first short film, DEMOCRACY, with funding from NZFC’s Fresh Shorts fund. The film was selected to play at NZIFF Whānau Mārama, Show Me Shorts and festivals internationally.

With a foot in both the creative and production camps, Bevin can effectively partner and link producing teams and creatives to hone their ideas for audiences and the market. He enjoys the development process, even the hard bits, and loves finding story solutions that delight audiences, the market and creative teams. Bevin has also worked at the NZ Film Commission as both a development and investment executive, which has given him insights into production financing.

A graduate of Victoria University of Wellington, Bevin has a BCA/BA double degree in Marketing, Geography and Theatre and Film. He’s been chair of the Young and Hungry Youth Arts Trust, served on the SPADA board and has been on Capital E’s National Theatre for Children advisory board.
